New Year, New You: Take Charge of Your Career in 2025

I hope the new year is off to an amazing start for you! 🎉

As we step into 2025, it’s the perfect time to take charge of your career and step into your full potential. This month, we’re focusing on gaining visibility, asking for meaningful feedback, and, most importantly, treating yourself with the grace you deserve.

Let’s make this year your best one yet!

1 | WHAT'S NEW 🌟

The best career advice I could give you? Be seen!

Early in my career, I thought working hard and staying under the radar would lead to success. But after narrowly avoiding a layoff, I realized you need both: hard work and visibility.

That’s why I’m excited to announce my upcoming workshop with Toast on February 5th! 🎉 I’ll be sharing strategies to help you build visibility so your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed. Whether you want to get recognized or unlock new opportunities, this workshop will help you shine!

2 | SPOTLIGHT 💬

Asking, “Am I doing okay?” isn’t enough for your career growth. To truly develop, you need detailed, constructive feedback—specific examples of where you're excelling and where you can improve.

Here are a few tips:

  • Own your regular check-ins with your supervisor. Seek clarity on how your performance will be assessed, and request ongoing feedback on both your strengths and areas for development.

  • But don't rely solely on external validation. Set your own performance targets. What does solid performance look like to you? How are your achievements aligning with your career goals or preparing you for the next level?

The more proactive you are with feedback and goal-setting, the better equipped you'll be to accelerate your growth and gain new opportunities.

4 | COACHING REFLECTION 🤔

What would your life look like if you decided to be your own biggest cheerleader?

Imagine a world where you shower yourself with the same love, support, and encouragement you give to others. What if you practiced self-compassion and treated yourself like your own best friend?

As women—especially women of colour —we can often be our harshest critics, overlooking our value. But when you embrace your worth and celebrate your progress, you unlock your true potential.

Take a moment to reflect: How would your career and life shift if you made self-empowerment your daily practice?
